ABOUT RYAN MONK

Welcome to my portfolio! Here you will see all of my pieces from over the years. These include graphic design pieces done via Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, drawings and paintings that were completed via acrylic/oil paint, drawings completed via graphite and charcoal medium, photography (black & white, and color) compositions that are taken with a DSLR camera and high-quality phone camera, and typography pieces that were completed using Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.

My style varies a lot because I typically like to make pieces based on my current mood or based off an image/vision of an art piece I thought about, but I mainly specialize in creating abstract art as well as simplistic yet modern logos and designs. I like to see art as a collection of spontaneous thoughts that transfer from the mind, to the medium.

Artist statement: Growing up, I always saw the world in black and white. But I also saw the joy of life, the energy in music, and abstraction of nature, while also developing a love for cats. These aspects of my life and discoveries of new passions are what show in my art style. I enjoy working in monochrome while having a desire to create pieces with color in them. I specialize in creating graphic design pieces, typography, brand identities, paintings, drawings, editing videos and short films, and I love photography and taking photos with my Canon EOS M50.

After graduating from SUNY Oswego in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, I have since moved to Rochester, NY, in pursing a job as a graphic designer, layout designer, photographer, or video editor. The outskirts of a major city is a new setting change for me that I hope will bring new inspirations and design ideas.
